Play on top, real learning underneath

An adventure on the surface. A proper education beneath it.

Everything your child plays is built on the UK National Curriculum spelling programme and a learning engine designed to make spelling last. Here is what is quietly doing the work while they explore.

Built on the real thing

The whole UK spelling curriculum, Year 1 to Year 6.

Spellify follows the National Curriculum spelling programme (Appendix 1) across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. More than 175 lessons and over 2,000 curriculum-aligned words, every lesson mapped to the curriculum, and almost every word carrying a friendly definition your child can tap to hear. The patterns, rules and word lists the curriculum sets out, taught the way it intends.

Not just word lists

Five ways of understanding words, not five lists to memorise.

Every lesson belongs to one of five strands, each a different way words actually work, so your child builds real understanding rather than rote memory.

Only the Year 3-4 and Year 5-6 word lists are statutory; the Year 1-2 common exception words are the curriculum’s non-statutory guidance.

The right thing at the right time

A phonics-first start, growing into patterns and word-building.

In Years 1 and 2, Spellify builds a phonics-first foundation: sounds, blends and the first common-exception words. From Year 3 on, it moves into the patterns, morphology and etymology that unlock the harder spellings of Key Stage 2, all the way to the statutory Year 5 and 6 lists.

Learning that lasts

A word is only “won” when your child can truly spell it.

Spellify never just ticks a word off a list. Each word climbs a ladder, from newly seen to fully mastered, and it only reaches the top once your child has spelled it correctly across at least three different games, on their own. Gentle spaced practice then brings it back just before it would be forgotten, so it stays learned. Every word they win is kept forever in the Vault, and progress only ever moves forward. Your child never sees a step backward.

Done properly

Grounded in how children really learn to spell.

The way Spellify teaches, explicit, structured, revisited over time, reflects the strongest evidence on how children, and especially dyslexic children, learn to read and spell. It is not a set of mini-games with a curriculum bolted on. The learning came first, and the adventure was built around it.
